Itinerary

Maras & Moray Tour: Exploring the Ancient Mysteries of the Incas

At the coordinated time, we will pass through your hotel in Cusco to pick you up and we will go for 01 hour and a half to our first stop, the impressive salt mines of Maras, this place is in charge of the local inhabitants of Maras who have used it since pre-Inca times to provide salt to the people living around. It is impressive to see how the salt water emanates from a natural source located at 3650 meters above sea level.

The villagers built small reservoirs to retain the salt water and process it for human consumption. After this wonderful experience we will get to our van and drive to Maras Town that still maintains the original stone carved frames in the main access of each house that comes from the colonial era, all the houses have carved the shields of the families to which the property belonged. After that, we will travel for another 15 minutes to get to our next attraction, the Inca agricultural laboratory of Moray, unique in its style where Incas worked on adapting products and farming seeds to different ecological altitudes.

Finally, on the way back we will make an interesting stop to visit the Temple of Chinchero with fresh paintings in its interior and to see the symbiosis of 2 religions that were merged in the evangelization process, also in this place specially on Sundays the mass is celebrated in Quechua, this temple is built over the ancient Inca buildings that we will also visit and then we will make a stop in a Textile center. Our Maras Moray tour ends by 13 pm in cusco.

Altitude sickness

As soon as people book a trip to Peru, specifically to Cusco, they start wondering about altitude sickness.

High altitudes contain less oxygen than sea level, forcing the body to work harder to get the oxygen it needs.

Our guides are highly trained to assist you should you experience symptoms of altitude sickness.

Weather

The weather in Cusco is unpredictable. The dry season in Cusco runs from April to October, but this doesn't mean it can't rain in June or shine in December; simply be prepared for any weather.
